It can be served either warm or cold, but is most commonly served hot. Our large selection of sake sets, sake bottles, or sake cups are perfect for drinking this ancient beverage. A sake set is a set consisting of bottles and cups used to serve sake, the traditional Japanese alcoholic beverage made from rice. Traditionally Sake is served in a wooden box cup; masu which has a standard measurement unlike other containers. It has a volume of 180 ml (6fl oz). Masu was used in the past because the wooden box complemented the traditionally brewed Sake because it was brewed in a wooden cask. Now, sake purists don’t use masu because the flavor of sake is affected by the wood.

Masu is now made of lacquer ware or even out of ABS plastic. Masu is still used now in traditional Sake-serving cup and as symbol pf prosperity. The masu has to be filled to the brim, as a symbol of prosperity. We have a selection of well designed wooden and plastic sake masus available.
