With the advent of Zen Buddhism in Japan during the 12th century, dry landscapes were cultivated to aid the understanding Zen concepts. These dry landscapes – known in the West as Zen gardens -- were to be used for meditation and to trigger deep contemplation. Two main elements of a Zen garden are stones that represent mountains and the crushed granite sand to form flowing water. Our desk-sized version of the ancient landscapes can be used for a personal reflective moment. Create a harmoniously arranged garden. Includes a square dish, white sand, three stones, mini pagoda, and rake. 7.25" x 7.15" x 1.75" height. Imported from China. Usually leaves our warehouse in 1-2 business days.
