About the Elephant
Elephants are the biggest land animals and its development period is 22 months considered as the longest of any land animal. An elephant calf at birth weighs 120 kilograms which is about 260lbs. They usually live for around 50 to 70 years but the oldest known and recorded elephant lived for around 82 years. In 1956, the ever largest elephant was found shot in Angola and this male elephant weighed about 11,000 kilograms (24,000lbs) with a 3.96 meters shoulder height (130ft). Adult elephants have no natural predators however they are endangered by human disturbance and poaching.

Aristotle once said that the elephant was "the beast which passes all others in wit and mind." The word elephant has its birth in the Greek meaning "ivory" or "elephant."
