Pu-Tai was a wandering Chinese monk during the T'ang Dynasty (618-907), known for his cheerful nature and protruding belly. Called the "Laughing Buddha," he roamed the countryside spreading joy and goodwill, especially to children. A sculpture of Buddha surrounded by five children is believed to be able to help childless couples trying to conceive. A protector of the young and innocent, this Buddha statue can also be placed in children’s rooms.
