The fifteenth day of the first lunar month on the Chinese calendar is known as the Lantern Festival. During this Lantern festival, children go out carrying paper lanterns and solve riddles on the paper lanterns. These paper lantern riddles contain messages of good luck and good fortune. The festival itself is all about positivity. The use of paper lanterns represent the positivity of nature, friends, family, and higher beings and how that positivity is responsible for the “light” or happiness that exists in our individual lives.
