Sandalwood soaps

Sandalwood soap is a type of soap made with essential oils derived from trees of the genus Santalum. These essential oils are fragrant and aromatic and most often utilized to make incense and perfume, as well as soap.

Sandalwood essential oils calm the skin and often effective when applied to dry or irritated skin or any skin problems. Sandalwood is effective in speeding up the healing process of burns, cuts, scrapes and other flesh wounds, because of its antiseptic qualities. Sandalwood oils are used in aromatherapy to reduce stress and also for antiseptic purposes. When you wash feet which have ringworm or athlete’s foot, with sandalwood, the fungal infection is eliminated. The antiseptic and microbial properties in sandalwood are because of a chemical compound called Beta-Santalol, which is major contributor of the characteristic woody aroma. Sandalwood soap has a bright, spicy, woody fragrance, which relaxes you and also helps you to relieve stress. That is why sandalwood oils are often used in aromatherapy.

Sandalwood was later on, utilized in Chinese medicine, craftwork and high end cosmetics.
